CYCLING AND TRIATHLON MEET EVERY DAY LIFE

Triathlon Training

As someone with a demanding full-time job, I find talking about triathlon to be escape from the stresses of work. It's a completely different world where I can focus on personal goals and achievements. Additionally, having a set training schedule helps me stay disciplined and efficient with my time outside of work. Overall, being able to talk about triathlon training allows me to connect with a different community and gain a greater appreciation for the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle.

Gear Reviews

My time spent working as a bicycle mechanic before becoming an accountant has made me somewhat of a gear snob, but it has also given me a better understanding of the most important pieces of gear, and where it is okay to save a little money and go with a cheaper option. By providing reviews of things like my new Garmin or the shoes I am currently using, I hope to provide useful insights or just some items to think about when making that next gear purchase.

Nutrition

It is essential for triathletes to think about proper nutrition every day and during training because our bodies require high amounts of energy and nutrients to sustain the physical demands of their sport. Adequate nutrition ensures optimal performance, decreases the risk of injury and illness, and expedites recovery time. Without proper fueling, I have experienced fatigue, decreased endurance, and impaired mental focus, hindering my ability to train properly. I try to share information on nutrition that is general and within my scope of practice and that is practical to fit both the goals of an athlete in training and someone who may some days need to eat their lunch while working at their desk.

Managing Life

Balancing a demanding job with training for triathlons can be a real struggle. It takes an incredible amount of discipline and commitment to make sure that you are putting in enough hours at work to keep your job secure, while also pushing yourself to the limit during training sessions. However, with the right mindset and a bit of planning, it's possible to strike a balance and achieve success both in the workplace and on the racecourse. By setting achievable goals, creating a regular training schedule, and staying focused on your priorities, I am able to find a way to make it work and hop to share the things that help along the way.
